Varde Borkar Family tree

 In 1925, Prof Krishna Dattaram Borkar alias Sadanandbab, Professor at Almedia College started working on the family tree of  Shiva Borkar, the eldest grandson of Varde Mulpurush who stayed in Bori. He has made detailed hand drawn charts of the five Takshims coming from five sons Ram, Venku, Yesba, Gopal & Krishna (today a modi document confirms the names of the five brothers). The charts and Sadanandbab's  picture are in the photo gallery for all of us to appreciate the detailed level of work and craftsmanship of an artist & historian.

Sadanandbab's grandson Dr. Nitin Laxmidas Borkar  has continued the work and expanded the scope based on Bakibab Borkars book to the first Varde (Mulpurush) dating it to 1570. The work has been extended to the five grandsons of  the Varde Mulpurush (Shiv Purush). 

We have compiled 15 generations for Shiva's eldest son Ram while the other branches are between 13-14 generations. Total individuals (dead and alive) of 5000 + are expected associated from 2400+ marriages.

• Sankhali branch - Individual names data comes from Anil Raghuvir Borkar, Sharad Borkar &  Lalita Navelkar

• Bicholim branch - Major Individual names data comes from Adv. Atmanand Varde

• Karwar branch - Individual names data for the Kadwad, Kodibag, Chendia, Sadashivgad, Karwar & Mallapur Borkars has been sent by D.N. Nadkarni. Individual names data of Balwalli  family has been sent by Sudhir Moolbidri (original family trees by Talmaki) and Dr Nitin Balvalli.

• Khanapur branch - Based on family tree compiled first by Virupash Bhikaji Khasnis in 1864 and later updated by Shripad Krishnarao Khasnis & Anant Shripad Khasnis. Individual names data for Tadkodkar family is compiled by Sudhir Manohar Tadkodkar, Achamania family is compiled by Balkrishna Achamania and Unkalkar family  is from Vishwanath Unkalkar.  Koppalkar, Shapurkar and Kulkarni family data is awaited from Gopal Koppalkar, Dr. Prakash  Shripad Shapurkar and from Jaiprakash Kulkarni respectively.

All the collected information as date and place of birth, death, marriage/remarriage , divorce with photographs & biodata is being verified and compiled by Dr. Nitin Borkar
